2019 Novel Coronavirus
The CDC is closely monitoring an outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by the Coronavirus first identified in Wuhen China. China reports the virus has a link to a large Seafood and Animal Market.
Transmission: This is transmitted from person to person contact. A person who has the virus may pass it to others via respiratory droplets.
Symptoms: Symptoms include; fever, cough, shortness of breath. Symptoms may appear in as few as 2 days up to 14 days after exposure.
Prevention: There is currently no vaccine. Here are some Everyday Preventive Actions:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or into your sleeve.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
STAY INFORMED AND UPDATED. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is working closed with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
