Welcome back to the school year 2019-2020. Listed below is a brief overview of some of the policies and procedures of the nurse's office so that we may serve you better and more efficiently during the year.
1. Students may receive over-the-counter medication under the order and restrictions imposed by the school physician with parental consent. You will find the list of available medicines listed at the bottom of the Student Health Emergency Form that you receive from your child's school. Please review the list and cross off any medications you don't want your child to have. There is a place right under the list of medicines for you to sign and date.
2. If your child needs any prescription medication, (long-term, short-term, or on an as needed basis), the nurse must have a doctor's order.
If your child is currently taking medication that need to be taken at school, please bring in the medication to the nurse in a pharmacy labeled bottle.
All Epinephrine Injectors (EpiPens) and inhalers should be brought in by the first day of school. This will ensure your child receives the proper treatment for an allergic reaction or exacerbation of their Asthma.
3. Updated physicals and immunization records are due to the school nurse in Grades K, 4, 7 & 10. If your child is playing a sport then a current physical must be on file.
4. Communication is very important between parents and the nurse. Please notify your school's nurse with any changes in your child's health during the school year. If the nurse has any concerns with your child during the school day, you will be notified as well.
